graduated from the Ballet Rambert School in 1986. She then went on to have a long and successful career with several ballet and contemporary companies: Savidge Dance Theatre, Vienna Festival Ballet, London Ballet Theatre, Telos Tanz Theatre in Stuttgart, Ballet Creations of London and Capital Chamber Ballet. She danced the Principal roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Coppelia and Giselle: danced Puck in A Midsummer’s Night Dream and created the role of Marcelline in Figaro. She has also danced with many Folk dance companies – Tziganka, English National Folk Ballet and Taras Cossacks. Emma choreographed several pieces for her own company, Ballet for Heroes, including Getting There for Battersea Arts Centre, Tossing off the Crown for a rural touring project and several pieces for the Edinburgh Festival. For the Soundbeam Project in Bristol she was asked to experiment with their Soundbeam technology, creating Leonardo’s Lists and, in conjunction with Henry Daniels, Nu for Resolution at the Place. In 2006 Emma joined the creative team of La Folia as choreographer, working with schools to create new musical and performance pieces. So far these include Brave New World, Enchanting Voices, Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Petrushka for the Chichester Festival Theatre: Baba Yaga, Midsummer Dreaming, Travelogue, Sounds that Hurt Not, The Ring Cycle (completed over four years) and The Tempest for Salisbury Arts Centre: and 100 Years On and Gandhi in Mind for the Anvil in Basingstoke. As well as her ongoing project work for La Folia, she has taught ballet, contemporary and Folk dance since leaving college, both in schools – notably Graham technique at the Royal Ballet Upper School – and in workshops worldwide. Some of her credits include; Dancer for P!NK at the BRIT Awards 2019 (TV), Wicked Part 1 (Film), The Lost Lionesses (Play), Christmas Karma (Film), Horrible Histories (TV), Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (Film), and Venom 3 (Film). Recently, she's had the opportunity to shoot with British Vogue and also be part of the presenting team for Pride in London. Amie has also won a Broadway World Award for Best Supporting Performer in a New Production of a Play for her role in The Lost Lionesses. Chris-Louise has also gained her Licentiate in Modern Theatre Dance and the Certificate in Dance Education for Tap with the Imperial Society of Dancing; she is currently training towards her Tap Licentiate. Chris-Louise has taught and choreographed in various schools and productions throughout Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and London, including Ballet Black associates. She teaches enjoys teaching a variety of students, from young children dancing as a hobby to vocational both practical and theoretical dance related subjects, currently teaching vocational students at Sharpe Academy and Kingsclere Performing Arts College. While training at Kings she took part in various productions and performed at Move It, eventually graduating with an Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre. After leaving Kings, Ellie was offered a place at the prestigious Linda Sweetzer Teacher Training College in Maidenhead, Berkshire where graduated with her ISTD DDE qualification in Tap Dance. Since qualifying Ellie has appeared in many of the ISTD magazines, and regularly attends courses with the ISTD to keep up to date with the developing syllabus. In 2015 Katherine became Course Director at Sinead Loughnane Academy Teacher Training Centre and is tutoring all units of the ISTD Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education in Modern and Tap. Throughout her childhood, she trained as a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate and then progressed to train at the prestigious Young Dancers Academy in London. She was also a member of Tap Attack Tap company which broadened her versatility alongside training in ISTD Tap and Modern at JLD. She also worked professionally in theatre (Billy Elliot, Matilda) film (Matilda the Musical - Netflix) and TV (The One Show, Got to Dance and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway). Her interest then shifted towards teaching and in September 2022 she began training at the Royal Academy of Dance, studying a BA Hons in Ballet Education and Licentiate of The Royal Academy of Dance. She is currently at Advanced 2 level ballet and will be working towards her Solo Seal award. She will soon be embarking on the 2 year RAD Certificate in Dance Teaching alongside her full-time IT job and current teaching commitments. Jo has also completed the Professional Tutu Making course at NTU and is looking forward to seeing some of her creations on stage at JLD’s Presentation Day. As a dancer, Jo was part of her university performance squad, competing in dance competitions, and performing with a choreography group combining classical and commercial styles. Prior to covid, she was a member of the Laura Henderson mixed-discipline adult dance company for several years. Jo is passionate about inclusive, supportive teaching that enables every child to enjoy dance and find what works best for them.
